The Sundari Sankar Memorial Quiz, an initiative of Rotary Club of Coimbatore Metropolis along with the Coimbatore Quiz Circle, saw nearly 600 students between the classes of 9 and 12 from over 60 schools coming together for a quiz contest at Kikani Higher Secondary School’s Sarojini Nataraj Auditorium recently. After a preliminary round the top eight teams made it to the final round. The Chief Guest for the evening was former Indian cricketer Kris Srikkanth, and to the delight of the gathering, he was the quizmaster, for a round on sports. A finebattle amongst the eight finalists with a lot of buzzers, high-fives and pumped fists saw GKD Matriculation Higher Secondary School represented by S. Bragadeeswaran and A.S. Hari Krishnan trumping the other teams for first place. The second place was won by Vidya Niketan School, and Yuva Bharathi Public School came third. The winners received cash prizes in addition to hand-made trophies and gift hampers. Rotary Club of Coimbatore Metropolis intends to make this an annual event and plans to take the Quiz to other venues across Tamil Nadu.

Noted magician SAC Vasanth kept the audience entertained in between the rounds. The winners of the quiz whipped out their mobiles and clicked selfies with Srikanth before they accepted their prize.
