The mighty pen
It's not often that you see scriptwriters penning for 250 films. And, here's one — V.C. Guhanathan is writing his 250th script for the film “Ini Sindhaadhu Indhiya Ratham”. He's been the scriptwriter for MGR's “Puthiya Bhoomi” and “Kumarikkottam”, Sivaji Ganesan's “Thangaikkaaga” and “Rajapart Rangadurai”, Rajinikanth's “Thanikaatu Raja” and “Manithan”, and Prabhu Deva's “Minsara Kanna”. He has written the script for Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam and other language films too, and directed films in Tamil and Telugu. Guhanathan's latest is said to revolve around terrorism and eradicating it. “I wanted to do a film on terrorism. When director Raja Mahesh, who did ‘Thambivudaiyan' heard about it, he told me he wanted to do the film. He's doing it for M theatres, and the music is scored by Deva.”

V4 Entertainment and MGR-Sivaji Academy jointly gave away the ‘Best of 2010' awards to film personalities recently, and it was an assembly of tinseltown stars. When A.R. Rahman was called to receive his award from actors Vadivelu and Vivek, Vadivelu insisted that the Oscar winner sing a few lines. The music director obliged — and sang a few lines of ‘Irumbile Oru Idhayam' from “Endhiran”.
Going places
When Hollywood technicians work in India, it becomes news. But, here is an India-born settled in Australia, making an English language film. The film “Newton's Third Law” is directed by Stanley Joseph, who started his career in Bangalore, later moved to Chennai and then left for Australia. Stanley has also composed the film's music. The 100-minute film, completed in less than 40 days, is said to have been completed in a budget of Rs. 15 crore. The cast includes Mark and Mike Duncan, Neal Horton and Amanda Fox. Produced by Bharathi Reddy for Walt Pictures, along with Bharthi Sree Productions, this action film focusses on terrorism.
