Nostalgic trip

It was a moment of nostalgia for singer K.J. Yesudas recently. Naveen, who’s directing the film Moodar Koodam, says, “The film’s a dark comedy, and I wanted a philosophical song for the climax. So we remixed Yesudas’ first ever song ‘Neeyum Bommai’ from the film Bommai. I was so convinced the legendary singer would not be available to sing the remixed version that I approached his son Vijay to sing it for us. However, when Vijay showed the remix version to his father, he readily agreed to sing it himself. He completed the recording in just 20 minutes, but chatted with us for more than hour after that. I’ll cherish those moments. I’m also thankful to S. Balachander’s family for letting us remix the original song.”

The film’s a White Shadows Productions, featuring Rajaj, Oviya and Jayprakash.

Acting debut

Stunt director ‘Jaguar’ Thangam has worked for nearly 800 films in all the South Indian languages and Hindi and Oriya. While one of his sons Vijaya Chiranjeevi has already entered the industry as an actor, his younger son Jai Jith has now followed suit. A Visual Communication student, he’s part of Nadhigal Nanaivadhillai, directed by P.C. Anbazhagan. Says the director, “It helps to have new faces because you can mould them. And, Jai Jith has the potential to be a good actor.”
