Every published newspaper is a work of art. At least that is what the editors and page makers think so. The pages of the newspaper make calculated use of space, lines, fonts and photographs. They present a perfect blend of light, shade and details.
A group of students of the city-based International Institute of Fashion and Design has gone a step further. They have artfully used old issues of The Hindu to create a theme wall as part of their project.
To dress up walls it is usual to use pictorial fonts. Like Chinese characters that give a simple graphic design that looks impressive on a wall. They create a remarkable pattern when used as a sort of wallpaper. These students – Sreejith R. “We intended to give an official look with a neutral colour scheme. Newspapers have a transient life but is can be so beautifully used as a theme wall, as part of interior design, giving it an official look,” says Sreejith, a final year student and a member of the group that created the theme wall.
