Classic and vintage cars set to steal the show

CHENNAI : 06/01/2011 : The Hindu Heritage Rally 2011

The Hindu in association with the Madras Heritage Motoring Club is organising a rally of vintage and classic cars from Chennai to Puducherry on January 8.

40 cars

A total of 40 cars, representing models from 1938 to 1975, will assemble at the VGP Universal Kingdom on East Coast Road on Saturday morning.

They would then go to Puducherry where they would be on display at the beach in the evening, from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

These cars would return to Chennai on January 9, with a halt at Radisson Resort Temple Bay, Mamallapuram.

Free shuttle service

Readers of The Hindu have an opportunity to witness the spectacle of these rare cars.

For the benefit of enthusiasts, a free shuttle service is being arranged from Koyambedu bus stand and Pondy Bazaar (opposite Nagesh Theatre) at 7 a.m. on Saturday.

As many as 75 people at each location can utilise this service on a first-come-first-served basis.
