GK1 M block and N block markets have always been popular for restaurants and pubs. One lounge cum restaurant which has been entertaining Delhiites for quite some time is Urban Knights, earlier popular as Urban Pind. Located in N Block main market, this three-storey lounge is an inviting destination for youngsters to hang around and dance. Decor has an ethnic theme to it with walls adorned with Harappan seals, textured prints and Khajuraho sculptures. A large screen displaying live soccer matches is a nice attraction at Level 1. Lighting, though, is too less and makes the place looks little dingy. I struggled to find a table where I could have my food and see it while eating, which led me to the terrace where lighting was slightly better. Good thing is that the terrace has a separate DJ console which makes it even more exciting.
Menu is the same as it was earlier, with a nice mix of Italian and Indian delicacies. I started with one of my favourites: minestrone soup. Good to see that it was served piping hot, just as I want my soup to be in winters. Sipping it sitting at the terrace made the experience worth remembering. Caesar salad followed and it was very average, lacking the freshness of veggies. Chicken charmoula was my first hot starter of the day, and had a subtle flavour of cilantro. Prawns done with rock salt and garlic were overcooked and were slightly chewy. To get an idea of their Indian preparations I had couple of starters from the tandoor. Murgh ke shooley were nice chunks of chicken, perfect on succulence. Surprisingly, chicken seekh kababs were really good. They tasted better than most what North Indian restaurants have to offer. Lahsooni chicken tikka was again a perfectly made tikka, suffused with a nice flavour of garlic. I also tried their polo ala griglia e papriko where the breast of chicken is grilled and topped with chilli garlic sauce.
For pizza and pasta lovers Urban Knights offers a wide variety of pizzas and pastas. Even their risottos are worth a try. As I found their Indian starters better, I ordered my main course from the Indian section. Methi murgh and roghan josh are two delicacies perfect for winters. Methi murgh was nice and went well with the lachcha parantha. Vegetarian biryani was average and faltered in texture. For desserts I would suggest skipping the phirni and gulab jamun for the classic Italian tiramisu or baked Alaska.
