The first road show of Goal India in New Delhi

The Indian chapter of Goal, an international humanitarian organisation, held its first road show in New Delhi recently. The relief and development agency manages integrated development programmes in 13 countries across the world and is headquartered in Dublin, Ireland.

Present on the occasion was the Irish Ambassador to India Feilim McLaughlin and Rachel Allen, the newly appointed brand ambassador for Goal. Rachel is a well-known figure in the food world known for her bestselling cookery books, televisions shows and food writing.

The event was held to publicise Goal’s origins, philosophy, activities and strategic plans for the future to help gather support and funds from those willing to subscribe to the cause. The organisation works to bring about transformative change in the lives of the extremely poor, vulnerable and marginalised, especially women and the girl child.

Rachel, who visited one working site of Goal in Kolkata, commented, “I am so moved by the kind of work Goal has been doing with these girls in Kolkata. They are not just providing them with supplies or what they need at the moment but empowering them for the future and a better standard of living.”

Barry Andrews, CEO, Goal International, detailed out the ecologically diversified areas in which Goal India works.

During her visit, Rachel, accompanied by her 14-year-old son, visited many local eateries in Delhi.
