Last November, chef ‘Malgudi’ Kavitha successfully completed the Longest Individual Cooking Marathon. And now, the feat has been officially recognised by The Limca Book of Records.
“I cooked non-stop for 35 hours, 20 minutes. I dished out more than 1,550 recipes and cooked 453 kg of food,” says the chef who hails from Virudhachalam.
Asked why she fiercely pursued the record, she says, “As a woman, I wanted to do this. I wanted to break stereotypes and do something that only a man has done so far.” And, break a man’s record, she did — the previous record was held by chef Damu, who cooked non-stop for 24 hours, 30 minutes and 12 seconds.
