Belgaum: Abhishek looks forward to winning many more medals in skating.

Abhishek, the three times world record holder from Belgaum city did not win any medals at the 10th International Speed Roller Skating Tournament held at Lagos in Portugal:

He said, “I missed one, now I will work still harder hereafter.” There were 250 competitors from the U.S., Chile, Germany, Denmark, Spain, Italy, France, Belgium, Holland, England, Brazil, New Zealand and Finland. The competition was tough and he participated in the 200 metres, 900 metres and in the 1000 metres races but fell short by few seconds to get a rank.

However, to participate in a tournament abroad is an achievement for a boy coming from an economically backward family. The skater has International Records in limbo skating and his name appears in the World Record Academy, Limca Book of Records and India Book of Records. A student of Std. V at AVH English Medium School, he is a member of Belgaum Roller Skating Academy and is receiving coaching from Suryakant Hindalgekar, Shashidhar Pol, Vishal Vesanse, Umesh Kalghatgi, Sudhir Kusane, Anandeshwar Patil, Prasad Tendolkar and Madhukar Bagewadi.
