Frank asked Santa for a mountain of snow. Santa smiled and obliged.

Frank walked through the snow. He had been walking for a while now and he was tired. He had set out to the snow-clad mountain where according to his friend Jimmy, Santa lived. He could now spot the mountains in the distance.

Following Jimmy’s advice, he walked to the back of the mountain where Santa lived. As he turned the corner he saw Santa was standing next to his sled, white beard flowing in the wind. He was busy arranging the gifts in his sled.

Frank shouted excitedly, “Santa!”. He stopped and looked at Frank.

“Why have you come this far?” he said.

“I thought I could choose what I wanted, if you let me,” Frank said.

“Oh, such a wonderful boy. You definitely deserve a gift you like,” laughed Santa. “Go ahead. Choose something.”

“Nothing in here interests me,” he said.

“Oh, what interests you?” asked Santa.

“I want this mountain of snow so that I can make snow men.” .

“Okay, I will ensure that this mountain stands outside your door tomorrow.”

When he got back he found Jimmy sitting in his room.

“So what did Santa tell you? Are you getting your mountain?”

“Yes. Santa said he would give me a mountain of snow.” said Frank.

They spent the night talking about the snow men they would build. The next morning, Frank opened the door — a huge, silvery mountain of snow stood on the lawn.

As Jimmy and Frank approached the mountain, they saw a thin stream of water flowing out of it.

Jimmy screamed, “The mountain is melting! The sun is turning the snow into water.” They ran off to Frank’s room. They opened the window and looked out. The snow was melting and the mountain was shrinking. There was water everywhere! The water was entering his home. Soon, it was filling up the rooms downstairs and was in Frank’s room. The water drowned everything — his bed, pillow, bags, books and pencils... everything! He called out for help. He heard a voice, “What happened?” Frank opened his eyes and realised it was a dream.

“Merry Christmas!” said his mother.

“What did you ask Santa for this year?”

Frank laughed and said, “Whatever he wants to give me.”
