Making friends

Neethu was a shy girl. She had no friends. She would spend her time reading books. Though her parents always told her to go out, she preferred staying in.

One day, when Neethu looked out of the window from her room, she saw some new people in her neighbourhood. She saw her mother going over to talk to them. Neethu could hear them talking.

“Hello, I’m Mrs. Sen,” Neethu’s mother introduced herself to the new neighbours. “I have a daughter named Neethu. She is inside. She is really shy.” Neethu heard the woman telling her mother. “My daughter is also shy. Her name is Meena and I am Mrs. Sharma. It’s nice to meet you Mrs. Sen.”

Neethu’s mother called her, and she went over. Mrs. Sharma called her daughter as well. “Neethu, this is Meena. Meena this is Neethu”.

“Hello Meena. You look pretty!” said Neethu. “You also look pretty,” Meena returned the compliment. The two girls liked each other. “Come let’s play. I have lots of toys,” said Neethu and the girls went to play. In no time, they became the best of friends.
