Who doesn't love adventures? Reading a good adventure story gives you wings of imagination, so you will be involved completely, being the character or tagging along with the character, doing heroic deeds, escaping disasters and vanquishing the enemy.
The traditional classics had novelists penning stories that were mostly adventures. People at that time didn't have much entertainment like now and reading novels was a great pastime.
