Glued to the box

November 18, 2013 03:25 pm | Updated 03:25 pm IST

Television plays a major role in the present day as a medium of communication and entertainment. It is important to know what is going on around the world. But just as there are merits, there are also demerits of watching TV.

Irrespective of age, people watch all kind of programmes on TV nowadays. Homemakers watch shows that are broadcast throughout the day. Parents are not able to concentrate on their children’s studies. Children also watch too much TV. For them, this takes the time off from playing outside. Playing is a good exercise. Due to lack of exercise, many children face physical problems, especially obesity. Hence, exercise is a must for everyone to develop a sound mind and good health.

In my view, television is an idiot box. Watch it for a limited time and don’t get addicted to it.
