There is so much to do in summer vacations here is something interesting and useful that you could do during your vacations. If you are a bookworm Treasure House, a children's library and experience centre is where you should head to.
Treasure House located in Jubilee Hills, Road No. 36 is holding this Summer Reading Programme for the second time. This year the reading camp on is till May 30. The programme is open to all children, members as well as non-members and there is no membership fee also for this particular reading programme.

The members will get to use the books available in the library but the non-members have to donate two of their old children's books which are in decent condition and can borrow books from the donated stacks during the reading programme.
After this programme all the donated books will be given to some needy school. The children will be divided into two groups according to their ages- children who come under the age group Baby-9 and age group 10-14. So here is what the children who come under Baby-9 age group get to do: read for 600 minutes over 45 days, i.e. 20 minutes everyday. They can read by themselves or someone can read to them. At the beginning of the programme they will be given a log book where they will have to enter their reading minutes daily.
The kids who come under the age group of 10-14 will have to read six books in 45 days, three recommended books and three of their own choice. Indeed it is a fun and fruitful way of utilising your holidays. Padma Rudraraju, Treasure House said, “We started this programme to promote the importance of reading and inculcate in the young minds the habit of reading. Last year around 150 kids had registered this year we expect a much bigger number. We have already visited a lot of schools to make the kids aware of this totally fun reading programme.”

To make it all the more fun, the theme for this year's Summer Reading Programme is Wildlife Safari. There will also be activities like story telling and all the stories will have at least one animal character. Rohan, a fourth grade student said, “I had attended the reading programme last year and it was fun. I was able to complete 600 minutes of reading and I enjoyed it a lot. The theme was adventure, which was very interesting. Also I got to watch a movie at IMAX and I also went to a restaurant after I finished my 600 minutes.”
A good enough deal, isn't it? After all books are the most faithful friends in life.
