Leadership Camp: Building leaders for tomorrow.

It was a workshop aimed at fuelling the dreams of leaders of tomorrow. The two-day leadership camp was for the student cabinet and council members of Presidency Group of Schools and was held at Mangalore. It provided an opportunity for 140 students from six unit schools of Presidency to develop the mindset, skill set and tool set to create and find more opportunities in their lives to make healthier decisions.

Intersting sessions

The workshop was divided into various sessions and it began with a session by Aravind Rao, who exhorted the students to manage “3 idiots” (I, me and myself) present in each one of us. There were various other sessions that focused on developing leadership traits.

The final session had a panel discussion in which the young leaders of Presidency participated, discussing and expressing their views on the roles and responsibilities of leaders.

G. Thangadurai, director, Presidency Group, said that the camp was a powerful educational experience for the participants.

He told the participants to keep the 3 R's— responsibility, respect for self and others and relationship with self and others — in mind always.

Shravya Bhat, a Std X student said, “I had a lot of fun at the camp. It was a completely new experience for me and I learnt a lot. Interacting with the student leaders from other schools gave me an exposure like never before. I made a lot of new friends and that was probably the best part. For the first time in my life, I had utilised my whole weekend in a most constructive way. The sessions were very educational and beneficial for all of us. I enjoyed the evening campfire and morning trek the most. This camp was a refreshing break from my studies and I made the most of every second.”

Utsav Karia said, “It was a once in a lifetime opportunity where we understood the real meaning of a leader. All the activities conducted at the camp were beneficial for all, us students. From the interactive session to the trek and campfire, everything was a learning opportunity.” The participants were given certificates at the end of the workshop.
