Enter the world of “Shylock!” with The Little Theatre's Christmas pantomime

The show, held in aid of underprivileged children, will be held at Museum Theatre, Egmore.

The Little Theatre presents “Shylock! Merchant or menace?”, its 15th Christmas Pantomime. The show, held in aid of underprivileged children, will be held at Museum Theatre, Egmore. Produced by Aysha Rau and directed by Hans Kaushik, the pantomime has been scripted by Aysha Rau, Hans Kaushik and The Cast. The music and minus one tracks have been created by Shaun Roberts, the choreography is by Ashley Shillong and Naimet Currimbhoy, and the costumes have been designed and created by 35 final-year students of fashion design, NIFT, Chennai. The sets and lights are by Michael Muthu and the sound is by Sudhin Prabhakar.

The pantomime stars 20 adults, including film actors Krishnakumar and Nitish Nair, dancer Ashley Shillong, singers Angeline Dharmaraj, Mridhula Sekhar, Karan Nair, Naren Weiss and Hamza Bhavnagarwala, and theatre actor Chander Mouli, besides 40 children of The Little Theatre.

The Little Theatre began in May 1991, the brainchild of Aysha Rau. The Little Theatre has an annual membership of around 70 children, between the ages of 5 to 14. It has been helping underprivileged children by conducting workshops at the Corporation Middle School.

The shows, to be held on December 10, 14 and 15 (6.30 p.m.) and December 11, 12 and 13 (3 p.m. and 7 p.m.), have loads of songs and dances and slapstick humour. Donor passes, priced at Rs. 100 and Rs. 50 are available at Landmark on Nungambakkam, Pro-Musicals and Oxford Bookstore.
