Camel

A shade of brown, camel is technically a colour that resembles the colour of the hair of a camel. For decades, the classic neutral shade has been associated with the stylish trench coat. The colour lends itself beautifully to home décor as it meshes well with every other colour — in the background and the foreground. The neutral brings a luxurious feel and creates a neutral look that has a dash of colour – more complex and sophisticated than beige or ivory.

Use it as a companion for brighter colours or as a standalone monochromatic colour scheme.

Rose gold

The prettiest metal on the market, rose gold is currently enjoying its 15 minutes of fame. An alloy of gold, with a shot of copper, rose gold has a warm appearance. The sheen and flush are what set this metal apart from others. The pink undertones combine well with any colour scheme and add a hint of shine. There are many ways to make it a part of home décor — try it in lamps and lighting fixtures, utensils, faucets and taps and hardware. Other accessories such as vases and ice buckets have also been seen in stores.

Unusual combinations

Colour combinations are a dime a dozen but it’s unusual ones that catch the eye and make an impact. Black and white may be classic but break out of the mould and experiment to come up with winners. Try pairings such as dusky green and engine red, black and bright pink, mint green and mauve, coral and blue, turquoise and tangerine, red and bright pink, khaki and lavender, cappuccino and lime.

Textured wallpapers

One-dimensional wallpaper is a thing of the past. Modern advances and methodologies have led to 3D designs that incorporate a variety of embellishments such as feathers, shells, beads, felt, threads and crystals. Wood, metal, grasses and leaves have also made their way to the wallpaper world to create textured finishes.

Sunburst mirrors

The sunburst mirror is a décor element that’s timeless and trendy. Louis XIV of France, often known as the Sun King, chose the head of Apollo surrounded by rays of light as his personal emblem. Bring a sunburst mirror – or more - home today. Use a large one to create a focal point in any room or place a collection of small sunbursts on a wall painted a rich hue. A sunburst in the kitchen or bathroom lends a surprising touch of elegance and sophistication to these functional areas.
