Be it as Nandu in Jassi Jaisi Koi Nahin or playing various characters in The Great Indian Comedy Show, Gaurav Gera is known to make an impact from the sidelines. After lending solid support for years, Gera has finally got a role where he takes the centre stage.
From this Thursday, Gera will play the title role in Kingdom Of Dreams' new production “Jhumroo”. Gera says he has given nine months for the preparation of the musical and Gurgaon being his hometown made it easier.

When I saw “Zangoora” I was totally impressed by it and I wanted to be a part of that kind of show so when “Jhumroo” was offered to me I accepted it. “Jhumroo” is not going to replace “Zangoora” as there is space for both.
I play the character of Bhola who is a simple, young and lovable boy who has two dreams – to be a great singing star and to express his love to Meena (played by Shweta Gulati).

How is it going to play out?
It is a Bollywood musical comedy show and can be called Indian Broadway. It is a complete package of story, song, dance and acting. It has got 19 Bollywood retro songs and is a celebration of the spirit of Kishore Kumar.
Is the character “Bhola” inspired by Kishore Kumar?
Not really but as I said one can feel Kishoreda's spirit throughout the show.
Are you doing this for money or satisfaction or both?
For both. I wanted to do this kind of show and I am proud of being a part of this kind of theatre. It also gave me the chance to stay with my parents.
As an actor how has been your journey? Do you feel typecast in comic roles?
I was selected for an ad film on my first audition. I also got the lead role of “Laddoo” in “Life Nahi Hai Ladoo” on my first audition for lead role. The journey has been exciting so far. I have done serious roles like in “Dasvidaniya” but I prefer comedy. I am a fun loving person, so comedy suits me.
