Coinciding with the World Theatre day, theatre group My Theatre Café presented a one act play titled Hatt Teri Kismat , a Vijay Tendulkar's original Marathi play adapted in Hindi by Vasant Deo. Hatt Teri Kismat , is a story of a politician and a commoner swapping place.
One fine morning, an ordinary clerk and a former Chief Minister who has been sacked, meet by chance at the beach. What starts as an innocent conversation between the two, transforms and reveals the hidden side of politics, the dirty games and wicked ways of politicians.
Interspersed with good dialogues, the two bring some hilarious moments in the play. As the politician notices a huge crowd approaching them, the CM persuades the clerk to exchange clothes with him, but in the hurry, their faces also get exchanged.

The CM's party then takes the clerk to be the chief minister, and reinstates him in the CM's post as per the high command's orders, much to the chagrin of the original chief minister.
Both of them meet once again after a year. The clerk becomes quite powerful and has full control over his position and also influences the Prime Minister to agree on his actions.
The original Chief Minister is not amused and threatens the clerk with dire consequences and announces that he would dislodge him soon, but does not succeed as the party members do not recognize him, as his face was also switched with the clerk and hence the clerk remains to be the Chief Minister.

It was a well written script throwing light on the power hungry and cunning ways of the politicians to stay in power.
Saurabh Gharipurkar and Asutosh Patwardhan played their roles with confidence and Saurabh as the former chief minister was very convincing. The back stage support was by, Mrunal Deo, Pushkarni, Kasturi, Aparna, Atul Bhogle, Akshay Deshpande and Devasish. The play was directed by Sunil Chandurkar.
