Sadas at Mannargudi temple

Published - March 08, 2012 03:54 pm IST

Sri Annaswami Iyengar Vidwat Sabha, Mannargudi, has announced that the Sadas, hitherto held at the Rajagopalswamy temple in the Tamil month of Panguni (March-April), will take place in July-August coinciding with the Adi Pooram festival.

The Sadas tradition dates back to 1944, when Srinivasa Iyengar as suggested by Paramacharya, organised discourses and debates as part of the Brahmotsavam at Sri Rajagopalaswamy temple. Ever since, during the festival, scholars, philosophers and heads of mutts would assemble to engage themselves in discussions on the Vedas, Bhagavad Gita, Agama and so on. Also students would be tested and awarded certificates of merit.

The Sabha feels that this highly intellectual exercise will benefit from a less hectic schedule and hence has chosen to conduct it during the Adi Pooram festival of Sri Sengamala Thayar. For details contact 04367-252170.
