Four cousins, a mystery, a bevy of beauties, pulsating songs, comedy galore… ideal ingredients for a holiday movie.
Cousins , Vyshakh’s new film releasing today, has all the above and more. But then Vyshakh has proved himself as a hit maker with his films doing a tango at the box office.
The filmmaker is not apologetic when he says his aim was to create an entertainer for the family crowds that flow into theatres once the Christmas vacation starts in Kerala. “When you are clear about what is the kind of film you want to make, then it becomes easy to plan the shooting and the movie just falls in place. One has to narrate the story in a manner that does not vex the audience and also see to it that each frame has something for the viewers. Sethu, who has scripted the story, and I had several discussions before we began the film and that helped up to wrap up the movie in the way we wanted to,” says Vyshakh.

Kunchacko Boban, Indrajith, Suraj Venjaramoodu and Joju George play the cousins. Vedhika, Nisha Aggarwal and Miya play the female leads.
The multi-starrer fast forwards viewers through the twists and turns in Sam’s life, essayed by Kunchacko, after a psychological problem erases his memories of a certain period in his life. That is when his cousins Jojy (Indrajith), Pauly (Suraj) and Tony (Joju) decide to travel to Manipal, where Sam did his graduation, to see if that revives his memory.
“That takes them to the heart of a mystery that has to be unravelled,” says Vyshakh.

He feels that a fun-filled movie that promises to take viewers for a roller-coaster ride never fails to woo holiday makers.
“Even the songs are composed of scenes that are guaranteed to be a laugh riot. Combined with some terrific numbers scored by music director M. Jayachandran, the numbers uploaded on YouTube have been winning rave reviews already,” says the director.
But he is not willing to talk about the money lavished on the film. He says with a laugh that he has not got a breather to take stock of the money spent for producing the film that has been shot in Bangalore, Mysore and Mangalore among other places.
Even while Cousins invite you for a rollicking journey with them, Vyshakh will be busy discussing his upcoming film with Mohanlal, Pulimurugan .
“I hope to begin shooting in February. But we have to decide on the nitty-gritty like the location and the rest of the cast. That will be decided early in 2015,” says the director with the Midas Touch who is not afraid to make his characters larger than life with dollops of action and romance to garnish the story line.
