The feel-good factor

When Solder plays in the city, the audience is entertained with soaring guitar riffs, eclectic drumming, ambient vocals and pulsing bass notes.

Yet, the city-based band claims to be far from the typical rock bands that dominate mainstream music locally and internationally.

What sets them apart is their “collective music passion to give our listeners ‘feel good' music”, according to drummer and percussionist Joel Rozario. Their brand of ‘feel good' music has a niche following here.

Blending funk, rock, and youthful energy to their performance, Solder carries the reputation of bringing out music that ranges from non-stop fun to watch-and-listen.

In the face of competition from bands like Thermal and a Quarter and Galeej Gurus, where does Solder fit it? The band choruses: “The right place at the right time.” Says band member Siddarth: “We are lucky to inherit such a rich diversity of audiences who love the kind of music we play. We owe it all those before us. Solder respects all those bands that have helped establish original music.”

At a recent performance at the Hard Rock Café, the band punched out some of their favourite compositions and the audience just sang along.
