Well-aligned to sruti, Hemalatha Ganesan's vocal recital featured by Rajalakshmi Fine Arts, Coimbatore, was underscored by adequate decibel control of her vocal exposition. This was noticeable from the beginning to the end of her kutcheri.
Beginning her session with ‘Viribhoni' varnam in two speeds marked by natural ease, she launched her song, ‘Mooladharamurthe' in Hamsadhwani. Her neat execution of ‘Rama Bhakti Saamrajyam' was followed by a raga expansion of Pantuvarali with ripe phrases and prayogas for the kriti, ‘Sivananda Kamavardhini.'
In her raga vistaras of Kapi (‘Intha Sowkhya') and Thodi (‘Sree Krishnam Bhajamanasa') Hemalatha's vision of sangita stimulated the course of her manodharma and the presentation of the songs revealed her sensitivity to the sahitya. She enjoyed her rendition of ‘Dattatreya Thrimurthi' (Ranjani) and ‘Kandene Udupiyai' (Kalyanavasantham). She gave the needed devotional depth when she sang ‘Adideva Paramathma' (Sindhubhairavi). Balasubramanian on the violin, Prakash on the mridangam and Suresh on the ghatam were the accompanists.
