Recognising young talents

Sangeet Natak Akademi has selected 33 artists for the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar, 2012. These artists have been chosen to receive the Puraskar by the General Council of the Akademi at its meeting held on May 24, in New Delhi.

The artists selected will receive a purse of Rs 25,000.

The following is the list of awardees:

Music: Bhuvanesh Komkali and Kumar Somanath Mardur (
Hindustani vocal ); Savani Talwalkar (Hindustani Instrumental (
tabla ); Ranjani and Gayatri and Gayathri Girish (
Carnatic vocal ); Instrument: N. Guruprasad (
ghatam ), B.C. Manjunath (
mridangam ) and Anirudh Athreya (
ganjira ).

Dance: Uma Sathya Narayanan ( Bharatanatyam ); Anuj Mishra ( Kathak ); Kalamandalam Harinarayanan.
