Indian origin singer Anoop Desai, one of the finalist at last year’s ‘American Idol’, is back in limelight with the launch of his debut album ‘All Is Fair’.

Anoop, 23, raised in Chapel Hill, NC, became a quick favorite on ‘American Idol’ last season with his good looks and charm.

Following the show’s annual concert tour, he set out on his own 50 city jaunt then settled in Los Angeles to record new music. His first single ‘My Name’, from the album releasing on May 4, is up tempo with Bollywood style influence.

“’My Name’, which is available since Tuesday on iTunes, has a double meaning. On one hand, it’s a response to kids that used to make fun of my name when I was little. I wanted my first contribution to be something that said, ‘Hey, my name is now cool, not something to be ashamed of’,” Anoop said.

“It’s also about false bravado. Each song on the All is Fair album describes a mindset or a time in my life. ‘My Name’ is about going to a club and trying to act like a big deal. Really, that mentality stems from some lack of confidence, but I think we’ve all done it at some point,” he added.
