Inaugurations of various sabhas

Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan’s Naatya Utsav will be celebrated from tomorrow till December 25, at Bhavan’s TAG Auditorium, 6, Kilpauk. Phillip A. Min, Consul General of the United States of America, will inaugurate and present the ‘P. Obul Reddy and P. Gnanambal Memorial Award’ for life time achievement to Alarmel Valli. M. Chockalingam, Judicial member, National Green Tribunal, Southern Zone, Chennai, will present the Bhavan’s Cultural Awards to Saashwathi Prabhu, Shubashree Ramachandran, S. Venkatraman (tambura), K. Mahathi (keyboard); S. Aswini (mridangam) and S. Anjani (veena).

BGS Trust inaugurates the Margazhi Music Mahotsavam today, 9.30 a.m., at Arkay Convention Centre, Royapettah. Nalli Kuppuswami Chetty presides. Umayalpuram K. Sivaraman will inaugurate, followed by the nagaswaram recital of Kalyanapuram K.G. Karthikeyan and K.G. Srinivasan.

Pushpaanjali Cultural Trust inaugurates ‘Margazhi Natya Vizha’ tomorrow, at R.K. Swamy Auditorium, Mylapore. The fest is on till December 24. The inaugural recital will be by Jyotsna Jagan, at 6 p.m.

Baala Kalasaagaram Trust inaugurates its seventh Margazhi festival, on December 14, 4.20 p.m., at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Mini Hall. Tiruvarur Bhaktavatsalam, the chief guest, will confer the ‘Bala Kala Rathna’ title on Abilash (vocal), Shyam (violin) and Akshay Ram (mridangam).

Hamsadhwani 's(Ph: 97909 09567) 20 NRI Music and Dance Festival opens on December 14, 5.45 p.m., at Youth Hostel, Indira Nagar.

Kruthi Bhat’s vocal concert will take place at 4.25 pm before the inaugural function. Senior NRI artists - Madurai R. Sundar (USA) and Shoba Sekhar (Australia) will be honoured on the occasion.
