Vedic Sangeeta Foundation under the able stewardship of A.K. Ramamurthy has been taking splendid efforts to document the vedas to the extent available
by way of recordings for posterity in compact disc, MP3 format. They have so far recorded 500 hours of vedic rendition comprising Yajur veda kramam and Sama vedam (released on January 18). The Sama Vedam, recorded for about 20 hours, has been divided into six volumes of which the first volume, for a duration of four hours, has been released. The subsequent volumes will be released in a phased manner. Overall when recorded the entire spectrum of vedic recitation will run upto 2500 hours. A.K. Ramamurthy of the foundation said that “this is just a small step taken by them and there is still a long way to go with funds being a key factor for the success of the project.”
Dr. Pappu Venugopala Rao delivered the presidential address stressing the importance of the Vedas and the need to preserve them. 96-year-old old E.V. Parasurama Ganapadigal recited the Ganam with his sonorous voice belying his age. He was honoured with a purse of Rs.10,000. Mrs. YGP released the Sama vedam MP3 CD. Dr. R. Krishnamutrthy Sastrigal spoke on the vedic knowledge of Parasurama Ganapadigal. Ahobila Mutt Jeer Srimad Andavan Swamigal delivered the Anugraha Bhashanam. The ceremony was followed by R. Mahathi’s vocal concert.
