A melodious treat of film songs penned by the great scholar and lyricist late Veturi Sundararama Murthy, whose demise left a void in the literary and film fields, was jointly arranged by Telugu Kala Vedika and Andhra Arts Academy at Sri Velidandla Hanumantaraya Grandhalayam Hall, Vijayawada. The auditorium was packed with the admirers of Veturi's songs and to the relief of the music lovers, the programme started on time with the song rendering by noted singers Dandu Chandrasekhar, Abdul Rehman, Kondeti Durga Nagamani and P. Sayi Kalpana.

The main singer of the event, C. Ramana of Hyderabad, who has established himself as a playback singer for films and television, rendered several songs of Veturi with his melodious voice and received well-deserved applause. The musical evening continued as the audience was treated to renditions by other singers with the support of a good orchestra. A few of the songs that were rendered attractively were, Siva Siva Sankara, Sankara Nada Sareera Para (the great hit from the movie Sankarabharanam ), Malli Malli Idi Rani Roju ) and Amani Padave Hayiga (Geetanjali) .

The function was attended by several dignitaries who recalled Veturi's contribution to Telugu music and the programme was compered by noted singer T. Subramanyam.
