N. Murali, Senior Managing Director of Kasturi and Sons Limited, was presented the Music Forum award for media excellence instituted by the International Foundation for the Fine Arts on Saturday.
Mr. Murali is President of the Music Academy, Chennai.
The award carries a citation and a cheque for Rs. 10,000. It was presented at a function at the National Centre for Performing Arts (NCPA) by Anand Nayak, executive vice-president, corporate human resources, ITC Limited.

The citation said: “The Music Forum, on behalf of International Foundation for the Fine Arts, is pleased to honour you as Managing Director of one of the most prestigious publications uniquely covering Indian music.”
Other awardees
Others presented with awards include Pandit Raghunath Seth, flautist, Pandit Murali Manohar Shukla, vocalist, Dr. Nicolas Magriel, who won the award for Contribution to the Cause of Indian Music by a Non-Indian personality, Dr. S.A.K. Durga, emeritus professor at the Department of Music in the University of Madras, Shrikant Deshpande, grandson of Sawai Gandharva of the Kirana gharana, tabla players Rajaram and Anand Dhere, and Prabhakar Pednekar, harmonium player. Special awards were also given to promising young artists and performing artists in various categories.
