Madras Week programme tomorrow

The following programmes are being organised on Tuesday as part of the Madras Week celebration.

An art competition and essay-writing competition will be held at Vels Vidyashram, Pallavaram, 10 a.m.

A talk will be presented on Coins by D. Hemachandra Rao of Madras Coin Society at Asan Memorial School, Greams Road, at 10 a.m. An inter-school quiz and drawing competition on coins and a coins exhibition at will be held at the same venue at 11 a.m.

A photography exhibition A greener side of Madras by Rod Hudson will be at Gallery Sri Parvati, 11 a.m.

An exhibition of vintage and classic lobby cards, film stills, record covers and song books from old movies collected by Clare Ami will be held at the Madras Terrace House, Royapettah, 11 a.m.

An oratorical contest will be held at the M.Ct.M. Boys Higher Secondary School, Purasawalkam, at 3 p.m. An illustrated lecture by Theodore Bhaskaran on Emden Potta Gundu (A naval attack on Madras), is being organised at the Roja Muthiah Research Library, Taramani, at 5 p.m. A photo exhibition on Madras-Volvograd twin cities, is being organised at Russian Centre of Science and Culture, Kasturi Ranga Road, at 5.30 p.m.

The Chennai Heritage talk by C.V. Karthik Narayan on Chennai-The Detroit of India will be held at Hotel Park Sheraton, at 6.30 p.m. A film by Venkatesh Chakravarthy capturing the complexities of the city will be screened at the Madras Terrace House, Royapettah, at 7 p.m. A talk by Pradeep Chakravarthy on Temples in song and inscriptions will be held at Sastri Hall, Luz, at 7 p.m.
