One of the Navadurga temples, whose deity was worshipped by sage Durvasa, it has in the vicinity Tirukoteeswarar temple of Tirukkodikkaval and Sri Bhaskareswarar temple (the deity was installed by Sri Bhaskararaya, author of Lalitha Sahasranama bhashyam).
