After a considerable gap Mummaneni Subba Rao Sidhardha Kala Peetham of Vijayawada came up with a superb dance drama titled ‘Krishnatva’ produced by Sweta Prasad’s group of Hyderabad, at Sidhardha Kala Kshetram.

Sweta Prasad is a singer of great merit who particularly specialised in dance-oriented music. She has been giving her vocal support to eminent dancers like Swapna Sundari, Sobha Naidu, Ananda Shanker Jayant, Vijayarama Rao and Deepika Reddy. She is also a noted solo singer having recorded many C.Ds of devotional songs.

The dance drama ‘Krishnatva’ was Sweta’s production depicting Lord Krishna’s relationship with Yasoda as her son, with Radha as her lover, with Kuchela as a friend, as a brother to Draupadi and as preacher of Bhagavadgita to Arjuna. Some of the most impressive and attractive scenes were Krishna’s childhood pranks, Yasoda seeing the whole Universe in Krishna’s mouth, Draupadi ‘Maana Samrakshna’ in the Kourava Sabha and particularly the Krishna-Kuchela episode. All these episodes were enchantingly enacted by excellently trained cast and showed Sweta Prasad’s brilliance as an innovative and creative artiste. The show was a visual treat and Sweta’s singing was a feast for the ears. In fact the music produced by Sweta and her instrumentalists consisting of I.V. Renuka Prasad (mridangam), K. Saikumar (violin), U. Pramod (flute), Krishna Kousik (ghatam) and V. Sridharacharya (effects) dominated the dance part but the total effect of the dance drama was impressive and pleased the audience immensely.
