Awards for veterans

Sri Krishna Gana Sabha is celebrating its diamond jubilee, the 59th Art and Nritya festival, the 34th Natya Kala Conference and the 27th Pongal Nagaswara Isai Vizha from December 11 to January 18, 2015. The art and dance fest will be inaugurated on December 11 .

To commemorate the six decades of its service to fine arts, the sabha will honour six artists in the field of dance with the Nritya Choodamani and Acharya Choodamani awards. Ratikant Mohapatra and Sujata Mohapatra (Odishi); Deepika Reddy (Kuchipudi; Gayatri Kannan , Zakir Hussain and A. Lakshmanaswamy (Bharatanatyam).

The Nritya Choodamani award carries a Gold medal, a purse of Rs.2,00,000/- and a citation. The Aacharya Choodamani Award carries a gold medal, a purse of Rs.1,00,000/- and a citation.

Swami Dayananda Saraswati will inaugurate the festival and confer the awards on the artists. Vyjayanthimala Bali will be the chief guest. The function will be followed by Dayananda Rasa – kritis of Sri Dayananda Saraswathi - Bharatanrityam by Gayatri Kannan and Mahathi Kannan.For details contact 2814 0806.
