The Centre for Fire, Explosive and Environment Safety, Delhi has rich infrastructure for scientific studies and research in its areas of specialisation.

In the National Halon Banking Programme, there are facilities for halon reclamation, recycling and refilling. (Halon is a liquefied, compressed gas that stops the spread of fire by chemically disrupting combustion). The Smoke Tunnel Facility helps test and evaluate fire detectors based on smoke and temperature. The Simulation Facility for Test Fire studies fire dynamics and combustion.

The centre has process and pilot plants facilities for the following studies.

Advanced photo-oxidation process for destruction of cyanide and explosive in wastewater.

The laboratory facilities cover the following: protective fabrics, foam concentrates and dry chemical powder (fire extinguishers against fires of class, A, B, C, D).

The analytical instruments facility includes:

Total organic carbon analyser

Atomic adsorption spectrophotometer

Surface area analyser

Cup burner apparatus

UV-VIS spectrophotometer

Mechanical strength

Simulation and modelling for software and modelling for carrying out rapid hazard ranking, consequence analysis, and fault tree analysis.

Risk calculations for quantitative assessment of hazard in explosive chemical processing facility.

Risk and hazard analysis.

Developed software for atmospheric contaminated dispersion modelling.

Developed virtual firefighting simulation.
