The Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology, Valiyamala, Thiruvananthapuram, has invited applications for admission to B.Tech. courses in aerospace engineering, avionics and physical sciences. Selection is based on the IIST Admission Test (ISAT 2012) to be held from 9 a.m. to 12 noon on April 21. The examination centres include Hyderabad, Visakapatnam, Thiruvananthapuram, Kozhikode, Chennai, Bangalore, Mumbai and Delhi. The three courses have 157 seats.

Those who have passed Plus Two or equivalent examinations with physics, chemistry, and mathematics with at least 70 per cent marks in Class X and XII may apply. Selected students are given free education and can secure a job as scientist or engineer at the Indian Space Research Organisation.

The National Institute of Design (NID), Ahmedabad, will conduct a design aptitude test on January 7 and 8 for admission to the four-year Graduate Diploma Programme in Design for Plus Two students and the two-and-a-half-year Postgraduate Diploma Programme in Design for graduates.

The Indira Gandhi National Open University, in collaboration with Security Skills Council India Limitd, offers postgraduate diploma and postgraduate certificate programmes in security operation and a postgraduate diploma programme in fire safety and disaster management with a monthly stipend of Rs.6,000 to Rs.8,000. Selection is based on a written test to be held on November 20 in places including Kochi, Chennai, Bangalore and Hyderabad.

The National Institute of Immunology, New Delhi, has invited applications for admission to a Ph.D. programme in advanced research areas in chemical biology, genetics and cell signalling, immunity and infection, molecular and cellular biology, reproduction and development, and structural and computational biology.
