Nani Palkhivala Arbitration Centre & CIArb(UK) India branch Arbitration Course, Mylapore 30th September & 1st October 2011(Saturday & Sunday)

The Nani Palkhivala Arbitration Centre & The Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb UK) India Branch are pleased to announce our third training programme. NPAC is committed to developing a pool of well trained arbitrators in collaboration with like-minded institutions of international repute.

Arbitration is a legal, formal, private, binding process through which disputes are resolved by an Award made by an independent Arbitral Tribunal/Panel. The composition of the latter is agreed by the parties or nominated by a court or a professional arbitration institution like NPAC.

Under the provisions of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act 1996, any educated person irrespective of their chosen profession can be appointed as an arbitrator. However, experience has shown that Arbitration by persons ignorant of basic law could sour the arbitral process.

Hence, there is a need for professionals from all fields to undertake courses like this one so as to be aware of how arbitration could apply to their businesses, and how best to use it to advantage.

These training programmes lead to certification at three levels: Associate, Member, Fellow.

After the course, the candidate will be required to complete an assignment within 30 days and email to the UK. The results are sent in 8 weeks. Those who are successful will be eligible to be an Associate of CIArb(UK). The next stage is Member, and finally a Fellow. We hope to run courses for these next year. Doing these courses help anyone who hopes to be an International Arbitrator.

Many people are not aware that they can cut costs and time considerably by applying the rules of an institution like ours. Arbitrators on our panel are committed to making this an affordable time-bound process with a legally-binding resolution within 6-12 months.
