Adarsha College, Kolar, organised a debate competition in association with the district unit of Kannada Sahitya Parishat as part of the Kuvempu birth anniversary celebrations. Speaking as chief guest at the valedictory programme, Kanakapura Government First Grade College principal Venugopal regretted the lack of interest among students towards studies. There was no infrastructure in the past but this shortcoming has been set right now. Yet students lacked interest and dedication, he said. He also expressed displeasure over the waning group study habit.

Mr. Venugopal also held parents responsible for the situation. “They meet all the demands of their wards but fail to guide them on the right track”, he said.

KGF FGC assistant professor Narasimhe Gowda spoke about the literature of Kuvempu. KSP district president J.G. Nagaraj, and Adarsha College principal S.K. Kalam participated. Lakshmi, Durgadhanush (both from Gangothri College) and S. Pratibha won the first three prizes respectively.
