In acquiring communication and presentation skills, students need not worry about mastering extraordinary talent. A reasonable level of skills with clarity in presentation would be enough for the youngsters to do well and impress in job interviews and at the workplace afterwards.
At a counselling programme for B.Tech final year students, resource persons of NIIT highlighted the need for students to cultivate good attitude first and then evaluate their strengths on a constant basis. Only such a positive habit will help them get an understanding of their real abilities and start building up their talent necessary to get a foothold in career.
B. Srinivasa Rao, area manager, NIIT Hyderabad, said that one singe problem still facing the students nowadays was that lack of consistent efforts on the part of students to improve their skill-set. In this, they needed to re-orient themselves and use their time effectively communicating with friends and fellow students and even family members. Regular practice in daily chores would be very much necessary for one to become effective in communication.

Mantena Ravi Kumar Raju, chief executive of NIIT, Vijayawada branch, said that they had trained 20 students of B.Tech Computer Science final year branch as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility in job-ready software technologies and communication skills. The students belong to the Nimra College of Engineering near Ibrahimpatnam and the students said that they became very confident of doing well in job interviews now.
During an interaction, the students said that they got a new understanding of what would be the job requirements in a major IT company now and it was very fortunate for them to get exposure in the area of presentation skills. The CSR programme of NIIT helped them evaluate their strengths and acquire new skills necessary in analytical and problem-solving areas, they said.
