The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has asked St. Aloysius College here whether it had obtained the approval of the council for shifting its Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Master of Computer Applications (MCA) courses to its new premises at Beeri, near Kotekar.
K. Shreekrishna Kumar, Director, South-Western Regional Office, AICTE, Bangalore, in his letter of May 7, 2010, asked the college principal to send copies of correspondence related to the approval for shifting the institution to a new location. Otherwise, “stringent action will be initiated against the institution,” the letter said.
The letter said: “…no institution shall run the approved programmes at the location not approved by the council. The institution conducting programmes at a location not approved by the council shall be liable for action for closure, including appropriate action against defaulting social trust.”

The Director's move followed a letter to the AICTE by Mangalore University on April 30, 2010 drawing the former's attention to the shifting of the two courses, allegedly “without the permission of the competent authority”.
Clarification
The college principal, in his May 8, 2010 reply to the AICTE, Bangalore, said that on July 2, 2009, he had written to K.B. Thakur, Adviser (M&T), AICTE, New Delhi, and furnished all details regarding the change of location and the new postal address.

M. Narahari, Registrar (Evaluation), St. Aloysius College, told The Hindu that the two courses were shifted to the new premises in September-October, 2009. The principal's reply also stated that the college on March 26, 2010 had written to the AICTE about “a proposal to increase the intake for MBA and MCA courses from 2010-11, and introducing new subjects in the existing MBA course from this year”. A copy of this letter was sent to the university on April 16, 2010, he said.
“We now request you to look into the matter and consider our application favourably for shifting MBA and MCA courses and oblige,” the principal of the college said in his reply.
