Paramedical courses from DMDSC

Dr. Mohan's Diabetes Education Academy , a unit of Dr. Mohan's Diabetes Specialities Centre (DMDSC) will offer a slew of medical and paramedical courses in the allopathic stream of medicine.

Postdoc fellowships

The two-year fellowship in Diabetology course is open to candidates with a pass in MBBS degree, aged below 30 years and have two years' clinical experience.

The two-year fellowship in Eye Diseases of Diabetes requires a candidate to have passed the MBBS course along with a diploma or MS in ophthalmology. Candidates with FRCS/MRCS in ophthalmology can also apply.

Those with prior clinical experience will be given preference. The upper age limit is 30 years.

Paramedical courses

The following non-medical and allied medical specialty courses are also being offered by the academy.

The one-year full-time post-graduate diploma in Diabetes Education course is open to those who have completed 21 years of age at the time of admission and have a bachelor's degree in one of the following subjects — nutrition, food service management and dietetics, clinical nutrition, food science, nursing (also diploma in nursing), microbiology, biochemistry, biology, botany, zoology and pharmacy.

The three-year B.Sc. degree in Medical Laboratory technology course admits candidates who have completed 17 years of age and passed the Class XII.

The two-year diploma in Nursing aide is open to those who have passed standard X and have completed 17 years of age. Candidates with a pass in Class X can also apply for diploma in Podiatry (Chiropody), a two-year programme, which trains them in comprehensive diabetic foot care to become a podiatrist or chiropodist.

All the above courses are affiliated to the Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University.

Certificate courses

The Academy offers certificate courses such as Physician Assistantship, Ophthalmic Nursing Assistant and Diabetes Technologies.

All three courses are of one-year duration, open to candidates who have passed Class X and have completed 15 years at the time of admission.

Certificate courses in collaboration with Public Health Foundation of India will be conducted through a network of approximately 100 certified regional training centres across 57 cities.

The one-year long certificate course in Evidence Based Diabetes Management (for physicians) is open to candidates with MBBS degree. The National Diabetes Educator Programme is offered in collaboration with India Association of Diabetes Educators. The year-long course is open to doctors with MBBS degree. The Academy is also offering several clinical research courses in collaboration with Cliniminds, a training institute.
