Campus placement for students of Thapar University, Patiala, has been successful this year—12 students have got placement as web engineers in the Tokyo firm Hikari Tsushin, at an annual salary of Rs. 23 lakh. DE Shaw picked two students with a package of Rs. 18.4 lakh. Microsoft and Samsung engineering offered a salary of Rs. 16 lakh per annum to nine students. In all, 687 students found jobs in 103 top Indian and international firms. It is believed that the strong industry-academia interface built by Thapar University has helped in making the university a top draw among these big corporate names from around the world. “Our job-oriented courses are tailored to meet the growing and ever-changing needs of the industry,” says the director, Prof. Prakash Gopalan. Some of the notable firms that recruited students from the university include TCS, Infosys, IBM, Samsung, Reliance and L&T constructions.

Aarupadai Veedu Institute of technology (AVIT), organised an International conference on Architecture, Software Systems and Green Computing at their premises. The Conference aimed at understanding the current research and impending development of Architecture, software systems through Green computing. Totally 256 papers were received across the country, and 120 papers were short-listed, Distinguished scientists and researchers and delegates from the industry, various universities and colleges participated in the seminar and technical papers were presented.
