Innovation on display at Siddaganga Institute of Technology

Exhibition: The students of Siddaganga Institute of Technology had displayed innovative models in an exhibition held on the premises of the college here on Saturday.

There were various models in the exhibition like Techno Bike which prevents vehicle theft by sending a message to the mobile of the owner of the bike, dry leaf collector machine for Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, a driverless tractor, robot to rescue a child trapped in a borewell, a wheel chair whose movement can be controlled using hand gestures, diesel produced from waste plastic covers , models to help the farmers in their agricultural activities and also warning system alerting the drivers and motorcycle riders to slow down before a circle or a turn on a road.

New programmes: Meanwhile, Director of Siddaganga Institute of Technology, M.N. Chennabasappa said that two new M.Tech programmes will be started from the academic year 2015-16, for which the All India Council for Technical Education, New Delhi, has given approval.

The programmes are Cyber Forensics and Information Security in Information Science branch and VLSI Design and Embedded Systems in Electronics and Instrumentation branch.

He said that 613 students from the college got placements from 35 companies in 2015. TCS alone recruited 323 students and Accenture recruited 109 students.
