Study archaeology

The Indian Institute of Archaeology (IndIA) is launching “Post Graduate Diploma in Archaeology: An interdisciplinary programme in Material Culture Studies.”

The one-year programme, designed from an interdisciplinary perspective, would integrate different branches of social sciences, humanities and physical sciences. This residential course aims to train the students in various concepts and practices in material culture studies, human ecology and ethnography. The course would also explore the existing methodological practices of site-centric research, site conservation and museum studies.

The two-semester programme will consist of six modules: five subject areas and a dissertation.

Eligibility

Post graduates from any discipline or professional graduates with minimum 60 per cent marks or equivalent grade in point scale systemare eligible to apply. Physically challenged applicants would get 5 per cent concession in minimum marks and would be eligible for other due benefits. Selection will be on the basis of an interview. Written test also may be conducted if necessary. Evaluation and ranking will be as per UGC guidelines.
