Workshop

Equinox, the entrepreneurship club of Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies, Bangalore, in association with Startup Grind, organised a workshop on “To be entrepreneurial, you must learn from successful entrepreneurs”.

The guest was Vipul Parekh, co-founder of BigBasket.com. The workshop aimed at defining the challenges faced by people when they begin a startup or while scaling up the business and how those problems can be solved. At what point does a person take that leap of faith and what are the rewards of being entrepreneurs, were some of the queries addressed. Workshop participants included budding entrepreneurs, corporates and students.

CSR initiative

As a CSR initiative, Sai Ram Group of Institutions launched “Sairam Gnana Sourbha,” wherein various events aimed at helping pre-university students will be organised.

Sports meets, orientation for teachers, study materials, CET mock tests, etc., will be held in the next three months.

Summit

Jyoti Summit 2014, a University Grants Commission sponsored international conference organised by the Post-Graduate Centre, Jyoti Nivas College (Autonomous), was inaugurated by economist Charan Singh.

The focus of the conference was “Futuristic innovations and challenges to diversity management, emerging technologies and sustainability for inclusive industrial growth”

While Mr. Singh, RBI Chair at the Indian Institute of Management-Bangalore, spoke on diversity of cultures and the need to understand cross-cultural literacy, M.K. Sridhar, Dean and Director of Canara Bank School of Management, Bangalore University, spoke about the importance of inclusiveness in families, in organisations and in society in his keynote address.

Career fair

The Student Career Fair for women students from computer science and IT backgrounds, one of the highlights of the annual Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing India (GHC India) 2014 conference, will take place on November 20 and 21 at The Lalit Ashok Hotel, Bengaluru.
