Eco-therapy

Bangalore Environmental Trust, in collaboration with Bangalore University’s (BU) Department of Environmental Science, is organising a year-long programme on eco-therapy for children with mental disabilities at Charakavana, Jnanabharathi Campus, BU.

Vice-Chancellor B.Thimme Gowda, who inaugurated the programme, said it was a ‘unique and essential green exercise’ for health. He said that the bio-park of BU belonged to everyone and society can make use of this green space for its benefit.

Environmentalist A.N. Yellappa Reddy delivered the presidential address. Students, staff and teachers from Nachikethana, Manonandana, Deepika and Samarthanam participated.

TEDx

Symbiosis Institute of Business Management, Bangalore (SIBM-B), hosted ‘TEDxSIBMBangalore’ for the third time in a row. Complementing the theme of the event, “The road less travelled”, the mission was to inspire minds and seek deep discussions among people at large. The speakers were drawn from varied fields and backgrounds to give the audience a 360 degree view on life.

Debutant director of the film ‘Gulaab Gang’, Soumik Sen, and singer Mahalakshmi Iyer were among the speakers.

Frisson

Jain University Centre for Management Studies organised Frisson 2014 – the annual inter-collegiate economic fest where an ethnic fashion show themed ‘Exotic India’ was held. The theme of Frisson 2014 was ‘Fundamentals of economics’.

This year’s fest conceptualised the inflation boom and the drastic increase in prices of commodities which had an impending effect on the common man. The fest tried to figure out the direction towards which economic theories are headed.

The position of entrepreneurs in the economy through the rise and fall in the trade market, brand equities and other significant vistas of economics were discussed at the forum.

Scholarships

Societe Generale Global Solution Centre (SG GSC), a subsidiary of the French banking and financial services company Societe Generale, announced the fourth phase of its scholarship programme — ‘SG GSC India Talent Scholarship’.

Since its launch in 2010, the programme has provided scholarship to 45 deserving students from institutes such as Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, (IIM-A), Indian Institute of Management, Tiruchirappalli (IIM-T), Indian Institute of Management, Bangalore (IIM-B), Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikode (IIM-K), Indian School of Business, Hyderabad (ISB), and International Institute of Information Technology, Bangalore (IIIT-B).

The 2013 programme saw an increase in the number of students chosen for scholarship.

Management event

Sheffield Business School, a part of Sheffield Hallam University, is inviting potential students, and aspiring business and management graduates to register for a business and management event where they can meet course leaders and hear a keynote speech from a world-renowned expert in emotional intelligence. The event is being held on February 20, 2014, at Hotel Atria, Palace Road, Bangalore from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Mr. and Miss MBA

Mr. and Miss MBA 2014 Karnataka, an event of Shrey Technologies designed to provide exposure to the latest happenings in the industry and a platform to innovate and succeed, has opened registrations starting from February 1.

Students are shortlisted after two rounds – a written test and a semi-final round. The grand finale is scheduled to be held in Bangalore on March 22 at the National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences auditorium.
