Bihar government sanctions Rs. 797 crore for school students

The Bihar government has sanctioned Rs. 797 crore for purchase of uniforms and bicycles for school children in the State, officials said today.

As many as 88 lakh school children from Class III to V would get Rs. 500 each, they said.

A total of 18.85 lakh girl students from Class VI to VIII will get Rs. 700 each for purchase of school uniforms and study materials under a scheme launched by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for 2010-11.

Under the Chief Minister Cycle Yojana, 6.35 lakh boys and 4.9 lakh girls studying in Class IX of different schools will get Rs. 2,000 each for the purchase of bicycles during the current fiscal, they said.
