BIM achieves cent per cent placement again

The graduates have received extremely good offers in a wide variety of management disciplines. Some of them have also chosen to become entrepreneurs.

Bharathidasan Institute of Management (BIM) has done it again in 2010, achieving cent per cent placement through campus recruitment, and in the process raising the bar for average compensation package by more than 20 per cent to 8.34 lakh per annum (cost to company).

Corporate India reaffirmed its faith in BIM's ability to produce world-class leaders. This year witnessed many big names in the industry competing with each other to pick up some of the best talent that the country had to offer. There was a significant increase in the number of roles on offer, especially in specialised fields such as Investment Banking, Project Finance, Private Equity, Equity research, Brand Management, Marketing Analytics and Industrial Relations.

The students bagged lucrative offers in areas of IT consulting spanning across diverse fields such as ERP, Human Resource, Capital Markets and Operations. The students were able to leverage their prior IT work-experience and marketing acumen to get some of the most sought after pre-sales roles, said N. Bala Baskar, BIM Director.

A total of 48 organisations were keen to participate in the placement process. Some of the big names that were on campus this year included Castrol, Cognizant, Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu, HDFC, ICICI, ICRA, IMRB , Infosys, Irevna (a division of CRISIL), JP Morgan Chase, Mindtree, Spark Capital, State Bank of India, TCS, Thomas Cook and Vedanta.

A number of organisations sought to build relationship with the institution. Among them were Bajaj Auto Finance Limited, IMS, JSW Steel, Marg, Mindtree , Readiminds, Rural Electrification Corporation Limited, SBI Capital Markets and Union Bank of India. Many students also chose to jumpstart their career with start-ups such as I3 Consulting and MedAll. These students would get an opportunity to work with some of the best entrepreneurial minds in the country, Mr. Bala Baskar said.

Thanks to BIM's focus on values and creativity, three students of the current batch have decided to take the entrepreneurial route. The students have ventured into various fields like hospitality, involving the opening of a restaurant in Tiruchi; education, with grand plans for schools and colleges, and also into mining services.

Said M. Sankaran, Professor and Placement Chairman: “Placements for the 2010 batch saw a lot of diversity in terms of the profiles offered and also a quantum jump in the salary levels. This is despite a difficult industry situation and low recruitment levels. The resounding success of this placement season stands testimony to the student quality of the institute. This will be a milestone in terms of placements at BIM.”

Srijayaram Sivakumaran, Student Placement Coordinator, said: “It is diligent team efforts that mark milestones in BIM. When it comes to defining careers, the placement committee consistently delivers, raising the bar year after year.”
