Halloween is round the corner. That’s an invitation to go crazy with your style. It is an opportunity to explore your closet for the funny costume from the good old school fancy dress days.
Restaurants, pubs and hotels across the city have planned Halloween parties, inviting people to be at their creative and spooky best.
Bay 146, the Resto lounge at Savera, will have an alter ego serving the guest: the scary one. “There would be pumpkins carved everywhere, dry leaves on the floor. The members of the staff will be dressed up and unrecognisable. They also have some pranks under their sleeves to catch customers off guard. Guests are invited to wear Halloween attires of their choice. They get a free Halloween cocktail and get 1 + 1 Halloween Cocktailfree before 10 p.m.,” says D. Sampath Kumar, F&B manager.

As October 31 is a weekday, many might not have the time to dress up as they will come straight from work. But, no worries: walk into Illusions and they will make you feel scary.
“We will have some props at Illusions for those guests who do not have a costume. There will also be a tattoo artist, who would do some quick body art. This apart, the place will be completely done-up with pumpkins and other scary stuff,” says Arasu Dennis, Business Head at Illusions.
Similar celebrations are on at The Westin in Velachery, where the best dancer and the best dressed will win prizes.

Twist to dishes
Restaurants will give a twist to the dishes. Radisson Blu GRT, GST Road, is having a five-day Halloween celebrations at the Garden Café, starting from October 27. The Halloween special menu includes dishes like ‘Amityville Horror,’ ‘Fiery tofu,’ ‘Witches Potion,’ ‘Possessed,’ ‘Psycho,’ ‘Chandramukhi,’ ‘Nenjam Marapadhillai.’ The traditional dishes like Pumpkin pie, Orange Jack O lanterns (Orange mousse) are also available.
Halloween parties in the city get better each year. Charlie Singh of Spoonbill says, “After the success of last year’s Halloween bash, we are all set to host a party this year. The idea is to give our restaurant a completely different look. A customer who walks in on October 31 will not be able to recognise the place.
The preparation has already started. We already have a scarecrow placed outside. However, the final decorations will start on October 30 night. Not only the place, but our Halloween special menu will also have a spooky look to it.”
