Trio on a trip

June 07, 2013 07:28 pm | Updated 07:28 pm IST - NEW DELHI:

“Yamla Pagla Deewana-2” promises a double dose of action and comedy

The three Deols are back in action with a sequel to the eminently successful Yamla Pagla Deewana . The action comedy, which released this Friday, has been directed by Sangeeth Sivan. In New Delhi to promote the film, Sivan applauded the three Deols, saying, “Having them on the screen, in the first place, ensured that fun and masti was obvious in the movie. So I never felt the need to put in any extra effort.” The Deols – Dharmendra in a cream-colour suit, Sunny in a turban and Bobby in casuals – came along with Australian model-actor Kristina — who plays a British girl in the film and Neha Sharma — who has earlier starred together in Apne .

All in the family

The comedy is set in Britain and marks the launch of Sunny Deol’s son Karan in the film industry. A home production of the Deols, the film, made under Vijeyta Films, has more than three Deols associated with it. While Dharmendra, Sunny and Bobby Deol are the faces of the film, Sunny’s son worked behind the scenes, as assistant director, in the film.

Another point of departure from the prequel is in the marketing bit. On the occasion veteran actor Dharmendra revealed,

“We have worked hard to ensure that our movie has a double dose of action, comedy, thrill and romance as compared to its prequel. We had not carried out extensive promotion for

Yamla Pagla Deewana-I but this time around we are not leaving any stone unturned as far as promotions are concerned.”

When it comes to music, both films score equally on account of peppy songs with a distinct Punjabi flavour to them.

“The song ‘I will dance like this only’ was specially made to mark my 50 years in the industry. To surprise me I was not informed about the song till the shooting started,” Dharmendra revealed.

Not ruling out Yamla Pagla Deewana 3 , Dharmendra said if the film turns out to be successful, they can come up with yet another sequel.
