After a two-year break, she's back with what she likes doing best — wielding the megaphone in tinsel town. This former journalist made her first film Chantigadu in 2003 and proved a point — that she was no less competent in the world of entertainment.
B. Jaya's first film was indeed a success in more ways than one and she followed it up with Premikulu that hit the screens in 2005. Two other films of hers — Gundammagari … and Sawaal , admittedly gave her little satisfaction and she attributes the relative lack of success of these two movies to the fact that she was forced to compromise.
“Be it for the casting, budgeting or any other facts that take precedence during the making of a film, I was forced to compromise. Now I can say for sure that my latest film will be my best. I am confident for the simple reason that I was given all the freedom I wanted in the creation of this movie. This will be the biggest advantage and I know this will be loved across a broad spectrum of audiences,” she says, talking about

Now what could be the reason for her absolute confidence, apart from the freedom she had been given by the people who matter. “Well, my husband B.A. Raju, is the producer, while the film is presented by R.R. Movie Makers, a banner that is known more for hits than the average ‘grossers', she quips. Persist in the same vein of questioning and the director says It's the story, script and the screenplay.
“My film is about a father-daughter relationship that I have showcased in a manner that will make every father and daughter relate,” she says.

On a more personal note, Jaya says her 5th film Lovely is her tribute to her father, who worked as a medical representative but passed away without realising his dream of being a film director.
